Callus formation

Callus formation is when a plant heals from a cut or wound by forming a new soft mass of cells. When a scion and rootstock are cut and joined together, they form callus tissues. These tissues grow, connect, and create a bridge. This bridge allows the water and nutrients to move between the two parts. With time, the callus becomes hard and joins both parts together. As a result, we get a healthier plant.

Callus formation is useful for farmers, gardeners, nursery workers, and horticulturists. This process helps them by increasing the success rate of grafting. It ensures that the plant heals quickly, grows stronger, and has high yields. The formation of a strong callus helps the graft heal and grow into a healthy plant. This process saves plant breeders time, money, and effort.
