Budding

Budding is a plant grafting technique in which a single bud (with a small piece of its bark) from a plant is placed into the stem or rootstock of another. Once grafted, this bud grows and merges with the host plant. This method is commonly used in agriculture and gardening to produce fruits and ornamental plants. It is usually practiced when the bark peels easily, like in late spring or early summer.

Budding is commonly used by horticulturists, plant breeders, greenhouse operators, and nursery managers. This technique is especially useful in commercial farming where there is a need to grow plants possessing specific qualities like disease resistance, color, size, or quality. This method ensures genetic consistency, faster maturity, and improved crop yield, making it valuable and cost-effective for commercial production.
